It's a crazy year...
My pink dogwood is blooming now along with the
lilacs!
Last fall near the pink dogwood I planted
some Hyacinthus orientalis Gypsy Queen which is supposed to be a salmony
color. They've come up a pinkish salmon which is fine because that works
well w the dogwood, though the two normally wouldn't bloom at the same
time.
However, I gave some of them to a friend to plant
and he put them in a couple of places. The ones in front of the house
came up pure white and the ones in the back came up pink.
I know varieties could have gotten mixed at the
packaging facility but it's not likely I'd have given my friend all the
mislabeled ones. These all came in the same
bag and, since each of the 3 locations provided different results, I'm thinking
it's the soil? What do you think?
I tried googling it with no satisfactory
results.
