Hi, Gene:

I love any well-written garden writing...essays, tutorials, design, etc., or any that are just plain fun and from the 1800s forward. Cheryl mentioned Beverly Nichols, who is a bit full of himself but lots of fun to read, who had one in particular, maybe 'Merry Hall', which made me laugh out loud.

More warmth and rain this week so will not be able to do any pruning as ankle-high muck out there. The yard looks like a cow pasture from the dogs tearing it up all winter. Zero measurable snow fall for Jan. & Feb., a record in Chicago and on and off warmth since early Dec. An azalea leafed out over two weeks ago, about 6 weeks early. Tete-a-Tete daffs will bloom in another 10 days and am wondering if the peonies will poke up thru the sodden earth this week. Daylilies are up 6". Weird.

I just read Sydney’s book on Gardening for a Lifetime on my Kindle. Right now I am rooting around for a bit of spiritualism, perhaps tied to gardening. Have lost of titles on my book shelf going back to the 70’s… but looking for something more “up to date??”.

Hi, Gene:

I just bought your book for my kindle and earmarked 'Living Landscape'...thanks for the info! I'm glad you're not letting that oxygen bottle slow you down:-) Please keep us posted on your publishing dates.

Down the (muddy) road, I'll dive into some Henry Mitchell again. Sydney Eddison has a wonderful book called 'Gardening for a Lifetime, how to garden wiser as you grow older' that's terrific. Eleanor Perenyi's 'Garden Thoughts' is also great fun as she's very opinionated while knowledgeable. Love Mrs. Greenthumbs, an irreverent and humorous book with excellent words to inspire. Roger Swain also has lots of space on my bookshelf.
