Hi, Gene:
I love any well-written garden writing...essays, tutorials, design,
etc., or any that are just plain fun and from the 1800s forward. Cheryl
mentioned Beverly Nichols, who is a bit full of himself but lots of fun to read,
who had one in particular, maybe 'Merry Hall', which made me laugh out loud.
More warmth and rain this week so will not be able to do any pruning as
ankle-high muck out there. The yard looks like a cow pasture from the dogs
tearing it up all winter. Zero measurable snow fall for Jan. & Feb., a
record in Chicago and on and off warmth since early Dec. An azalea leafed out
over two weeks ago, about 6 weeks early. Tete-a-Tete daffs will
bloom in another 10 days and am wondering if the peonies will poke
up thru the sodden earth this week. Daylilies are up 6". Weird.
Joanie
