Chris,
I have a similar tool. Don't know what it's called. It has a regular
rake-type handle with an open triangle on the end. The point facing away
from the gardener is sharpened and the entire triangle is open. You push it
into the soil and because it is open you can pull it back towards you to cut
off the weeds. I like mine so much that I bought a second one at another
yard sale just in case I lose mine or break it or something.
My other favorite tool is the bucket with pockets. I always lost tools
before or had to make numerous trips to the shed for yet another tool, but
the bucket has resolved those issues.
A holster for your pruners is another item I consider essential.
