If the weeds are already up, I would suggest using a product like Round
Up. Round Up kills the plants it touches, but does not go into the
soil. It's my understanding that Preen does enter the soil. You
wouldn't be able to plant for a while, because any seed you planted
would die.
I'd be interested in hearing other thoughts on this.
