Snow in summer, rubus

Cerastium tomentosum grows all winter in zone 9. I imagine it gets a
set-back in colder areas.
Rubus tricolour is a bramble without thorns, which has glossy leaves all
winter, red hairy stems. Although it theory growing to 18 inches, I find
six would be more like it. It produces 18" stems but these tend to arch
sidewards rather than standing up. It makes very effective cheap
groundcover, rooting readily from cuttings which it provides an abundance
of material for. Flowers unremarkable. Supposed edible fruits but not here.
