Yes - unfortunately IME meconopsis seedlings seem to be very prone to
damping off - they just all fall over and die! It is heart breaking, isn't
it! The best success I've had is to sow _very_ thinly in a gritty, peaty
compost and to keep them in a sheltered shady place _outdoors_ for maximum
ventilation. Since they are very difficult to transplant (due to being so
tiny and fragile) they really are best sown thinly enough to grow on without
disturbing them. They also dislike too much water but need to be kept moist.
They don't thrive with capilliary matting water systems either, as my father
unfortunately found out. They will be worth perservering with though - they
are wonderful when they do survive!
Hope the suggestions help
