Re: Suggestions for planting under fruit trees

I like to put bulbs, wildflowers and various herbs under fruit trees. Bulbs,
such as Narcissus and Crocus add some color in early spring. The various
wildflowers (Aster, Chicory, Hollyhocks or mallows, Penstemons, etc. in the
sunny perimeter ..... also Daylillies) & herbs (Anise, Hyssop, catnip, dill
and the like as well as various shade tolerant herbs that are not too invasive
such as Violas for a cover closer to the tree) attract beneficial insects and
feed the bees when the trees are out of flower. Leave room to get to the trunk
and care for/harvest your trees!
