Sue P.:
I'm only going to answer question #2 about your moonflowers.
Don't fertilize them.
If you just want lots of leaves, do it. You won't have very many blooms,
however. I've never fertilized mine. One year I amended the soil with
compost before I planted them. I had the most gorgeous green foliage all
over my fence. Hardly any blooms. I've learned my lesson! These things
thrive on neglect and so do morning glories (same family).
Just my experience with one of my favorite flowers.
