Centranthus ruber

Hi, folks....
Eight centranthus ruber are thriving under the shop lights in my basement,
because I keep reading about how they love poor soil and bloom for so long.
I also read that they can spread aggressively. The spot that I plan to
plant them is very much contained by a huge Colorado blue spruce on one
side, and a chain link fence set in concrete next to a dirt driveway on the
other. What's your experience with centranthus ruber?
Myrna, Zone 3, Montana (the only green I can see now is the evergreen
trees/shrubs and the vinca minor and the lamium)
