The Greenhouse was broken into and the theif stole all me reference
books. Naturally, I intend to replace most of them, but thought I'd
ask two questions before I order them.
First: One of the books is currently out of print. It was my most used
book and was an "...Encyclopedia of Trees and Shrubs". The cover was a
picture of a red foliage and the title was in a cream-colored box. The
first section of the book was of tree descriptions and the second
section was of shrubs. It listed the botanical name, followed by
"subtitles" of origion, hardiness, pruning, description, problems and
other varieties of interest. It also showed a picture of one or more of
the varieties. At the end of the listing, there is a line drawing
indicating the growth habit of the tree or shrub and a italicized chart
of plant size at 5, 10 and 20 years maturity.
THIS BOOK IS OUT OF PRINT. I DO NOT KNOW THE FULL TITLE NAME AND OF ALL
THE STOLEN BOOKS WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE THIS ONE THE MOST.
If you have it, or know of it, would you please list the full title with
the author? If you have it, and don't use it, I'D BE THRILLED TO
PURCHASE IT FROM YOU.
Secondly: Also stolen were the Randon House series volumes of
Perennials (early bloomers) and the second volume of Perennials (late
bloomers), and also the Random House volume on Shrubs.
These books are replaceable for about $22 each thru Amazon, but if
you've inherited your Great-Aunt Minnies' set, which duplicates your own
set, I'd be happy to purchase these books also.
Also stolen was 'The Ultimate Plant Book', I don't recall the author,
but it is currently on the market and sells for about $50, as I recall.
It was a Christmas gift to me from my step-son. I haven't been able to
tell him it was taken, as he is a college student and that was alot of
money for him. The same replacement purchase offer stands as above.
Thank you all for your time spent reading this and I appreciate the
empathetic indignation you all offer at the thought of a fellow gardener
stooping so low as to resort to thievery.
