Homestead Verbena is borderline hardy for you and me. It came back for me
last year and I notice where I cut and planted some in a different place it
was sprouting leaves before this last snow. The original planting is not
faring so well. I think this may be a plant that needs rejuvenating each
year--just pull up some of the rooted sprouts and move them.
As for when to uncover, I have never covered mine. You can be sure that the
snow was good protection for them. At this point I think I'd remove the pine
branches. I am optimistic that spring is nearly hear.
