Jerry, what about chapparal plants? Common plants grown in vegetable
gardens? Salivas (there are many many species)? Plants with variegated
leaves? Plants with red berries? Tropical plants? Lots of ideas there...
Have fun. Taxonomy was one of my favorite classes! I studied botany at
Duke University in North Carolina and our taxonomy class was taught in the
forest. We'd spend the afternoon tromping through the woods with our
professor and TA's, learning how to identify the plants based upon
strutures... It is one of my favorite memories of undergraduate times
(sigh).
