Hi-so glad that there are a few of us who don't remember every name of
every plant-phew I was really feeling old!
I use the boring old zinc plant markers and a sort of waxy/lead pencil.
I attach the tag that came with the plant to the zinc marker by punching
a hole in it and threading it thru the 'legs' that go in the ground.
I have to keep up on marking-especially the new heirloom roses I
got-there isn't any way I could remember almost 100 rose names!Sure, the
spectacular ones I know, but every plant isn't spectacular. Some are
just nice and some are just there!
I do sketch in my journal, which I try to write in weekly in the spring
(such as the one from 2 weeks ago(-Don't set out the tomato seedlings to
harden off too early-you dolt!)-it was more of a note for myself for
next year as I have 4 flats of tomatoes peppers balsam cukes and others
that got pinched by a miserable late frost. It was a mild one, but the
days had been warm and the plants had been out for almost ....ah well
who cares.
Needless to say I have more of them seeding right now, but they wont be
as early as I like grump[ grump
I also want to, someday, have an open garden. I belong to the Hardy
Plant Society of Oregon and we have open gardens thru the spring and
summer. I most appreciate the gardens where plants are marked so I can
take notes on what might be nice in my gardens.
