    I am certainly no expert on Geum, however, my Garden Book pronounces it
JEE um.  It says there are 20 or more species and they don't all act the
same.  I don't know why yours would go to seed without blooming or how it
even could go to seed without blooming.  Mine here in zone 6 has not bloomed
yet.  Maybe someone else has an idea.
