I have both of those peonies as well. Festiva Maxima is harder to find in
the nurseries (Duchess de Nemours is a more popular white double) but I have
one that was planted just after WWII by the back door of the house. We
moved it into the perennial bed while the house was being reconstructed and
I think I'll just leave it there because a peony of it's age is pretty big.
We used a backhoe to move it last time but I don't have a backhoe handy at
this time. Festiva Maxima was developed nearly a hundred years ago and
you'd still have trouble finding a better white double. It can be recognized
when blooming by small red flecks near the centre.
