Re: Weeding, in theory

You've made a really important point. If I had a guest or relative who
"helped" in the garden by pulling up valuable plants or pruning
incorrectly, but were doing it because they wanted to enjoy the experience
of gardening, I would be very, very forgiving. I understand that feeling,
having rented vacation houses or stayed in B&B's where I was just dying to
garden but felt like it was intrusive to do so unasked and untutored.

But anybody who prunes my weeping cherry because they think it looks
"unkempt" (a subtle criticism) or pulls out plants (under the guise of
weeding)  as part of some control or competitive thing, best watch their
back.
