Well, Susan, when I read 'small', I thought of H. 'Gold Drop' - which
I grow - photo can be found here:

http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/shade_gardening/9518

Then, I read 12-18"...'Gold Drop' doesn't get that large, but it's a
neat little gold leafed plant that keeps its color all season -
perfect for a tight spot if it won't get overhung by something
larger, to its detriment.

Suggest you check out Shade Serenade at Giboshi.com - they have about
every Hosta ever bred categorized in many ways. Hit the 'small' link
and then the 'gold' link and you'll get a huge list. Pick a name
and you'll get info on the plant, including size.
