I am not an iris expert by any means, but I do grow quite a few irises and used to belong to an iris list on the internet. The timing you stated is about right for division and it is usually signaled by fewer blooms, but not die back of buds--to my knowledge. Did you have any cold snaps right after the buds formed? Get on an iris list, like the one on e-groups--they can help you, I am sure, or maybe you are going to get some better answers here. Good luck! I really love my irises. They are about done blooming now, but i have several re-bloomers that should bloom again in the fall.

I know this isn't an iris list but perhaps someone has a clue about theproblem I am having. An iris that has bloomed regularly this time of year, every year since Iput in in 3 years ago has had blooms die back terribly. They begin tobloom, then shrivel and collapse. One bloom was dry and brown before it even got to the bloom stage. This was the year I was prepared to dig and divide this iris. Should Ihave done it sooner? Is their some iris bug that does this (I have notseen anything).I'm a little worried because I out did myself last fall on Ebay, biddingand winning about 50 really exotic looking iris. I am not knowledgeableabout these plants but decided I wanted an iris spot for color by myfront door.Halp!elle - Z 8 Willamette Valley (Portland) ORZ 6 Sunset---------------------------------------------------------------------To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@mallorn.com with the
