There is a daylily grower on this list who may be too busy to advise. I have
belonged to a AHS chapter for years but seldom read any of the mailings. The
purple voted most popular two years in a row is 'Strutters Ball'. That would
be in the reasonable price range. Some other exotics are priced in three
figures and would probably the ones the deer would eat.
It must a good one as it seems to appear in all the specialty catalogs. The
Chicago series are tets mostly and have, I think, low bud counts as their
main problem. Most growers are always looking for a good purple ( no red in
it).
