 The Plant Sale is this coming weekend, B May 10-12;  10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 
Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. 
  
 We offer a wide selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, rare and unusual 
plants, trees and shrubs.  Rare and unusual plant specimens have been part of 
the plant sale since it began 25 years ago.  A variety of silver-leafed 
plants, great mediators among flowers of contrasting colors, will be featured 
this year as part of the 25th anniversary celebration.  A wide selection of 
nursery-grown native plants, ferns and wildflowers will also be offered. 
  
 Many choice woody plants are donated by nurseries and garden centers from 
several states.   Specialty vendors will offer field-grown herbs; organic and 
heirloom vegetables; rock garden and woodland plants; garden sculptures and 
ornaments, garden furniture, arbors, tufa containers and more.  The 
non-profit organization Elm Watch will also offer a limited number of 
disease-resistant cultivars of American elm.  Top-quality compost from 
Holiday Farm in Dalton, MA will be available to give those new plants all the 
nutrients they need.
 
 New this year will be bgardens in a box' and planting plans for shady and 
sunny borders since not every gardener feels confident about combining plants 
into successful designs. B Our talented horticultural staff has created some 
beautiful plans and plant combinations for borders, window boxes, and 
butterfly and hummingbird gardens.
 Expert advisers will be on hand to assist shoppers, answer questions and 
provide knowledgeable gardening advice. 
 
 Soil tests will be conducted by the Western Massachusetts Master Gardeners 
at a cost of $1.00 for each one-half cup soil sample.  Refreshments will be 
available for purchase, provided by the Williamsville Inn.  Old, new, gently 
used, antique and collectible gardening books will be for sale.  In addition, 
the Gardenbs Gift Shop will be open, offering a bSpring Cleaning Saleb on a 
selection of garden-related gifts, gear, and accessories.   Admission and 
parking throughout the three-day event is free.
 
 Admission to the Garden is also free during the three-day event and May is 
perfect for walking around the grounds to see the late spring bulbs, 
primroses, and flowering trees that will be in bloom.  Proceeds from the 
Plant Sale support the Garden's educational and horticultural programs.  >>
