If you lost the top of the plants, what will happen is that the bulb will 
form new smaller bulbs around it's self.  You will end up with a lot more 
bulbs,  but they will be much smaller and have fewer flowers over the next 
two years.

Will they bloom this year?  maybe.. but most likly not.
