RE: garden photography

Gene, you have described exactly the feeling of betrayal I have heard from
others. And no, they won't allow their gardens to be photographed any more
either. A few of the magazines do the right thing and give credit where
credit is due. We gardeners don't ask for much - but, a little appreciation
goes a long way.

Hello Marilyn,
I had a newspaper do a special feature on the garden here some years
back. They sent out one of their best photographers and I was very pleased
as I much admired her work. Well, they did a bang-up job, in color, of the
garden and plants. While she was here I kept talking to her about all the
shots she was taking... think she shot over a dozen rolls of film. Turns out
she was not only working for the paper, she was working for herself as well.
I have seen "my" plants in national gardening magazines and on one front
cover, in her slide presentations since that date. You kind of feel like you
have been "had" when something like that happens. Sometimes I am dumber than
the rock I sit on in the center of my garden... it simply never occurred to
me I had to spell out the rights and restrictions in photographing my
garden...One would thing honesty, ethics, would take care of that.
