Hi Karen,
I also live in zone 5. I have three different clematis on the same
trellis. Each one has a different bloom time, early, mid and late.
Provides flowering almost the entire season, June thru Sept. Not sure
where you are located at, but last year the Chicago Botanical Gardens
had a great many varieties on sale behind the gift shop. Also, as Claire
stated, most nurseries are carrying more than one variety now.
