Donna,
You pointed out the greatest weakness on Ebay,namely that they rarely use
(or know?)the latin names,which of course raises confusion..
But here is a rule of thumb for you,
IF the flowers hang down they are almost always=Brugmansia..
If the flowers point upwards or sideways,they are most likely Datura..
And yes Daturas can and do bloom in one season,particularly if they are in a
good sunny location and of course recieve the moisture etc.they
desire..there are variances of course but if you find that the plant grew
but did not bloom start the seed earlier next season..BTW Datura is almost
entirely offered as seed,Brugmansia mostly cuttings,and sometimes seed.
The season here is short but three different Datura reseed directly for me
and bloom every year,so by all means give them a try..Brugmansia are never
purple by the way and are tender plants that must be stored over winter
unless you live in zone 7B and up......Good Luck to you.
