Hi Joanie,

Vinegar is just acetic acid mixed with water (it's name comes from
the latin word for vinegar, 'acetum').

You can usually get 20% acetic acid solutions from feed stores, and
many grocery stores sell 9% concentrations for pickling and the
familiar 5% concentrations used for eating.

If you do buy higher concentrations of acetic acid, make sure that
you store it away from 'living areas'. Vinegar fires can produce
   dangerous fumes.

One other consideration... I've read that vinegar also lowers the
soil pH significantly, making it difficult for other plants to grow
in the area. Granted, this is probably a good thing for Cheryl
and her deck, but not so good for someone who's planning on planting
where they just sprayed. In those cases you'd probably want to amend
   the soil with lime afterwards.
