The larger types will grow into large clumps- I have a few that are three
feet across in some places, they slowly get bigger every year and are long
lived. Plants take two years or so to get established so keep them watered
when its dry. They love a good humus rich sandy mix for a soil in light
shade. They will take more sun or more shade, in the sun they need a
moisture retentive soil. The flowers are great in the spring-but I love the
nice thick foliage of the clumps in the summer.
