<snip> 5 Tbs Boric Acid in a gallon of water will kill Creeping Charlie and
not other plants. Charlie has a particular intolerance to high levels of
boric acid.

So what I did, Jean, was run right out and dump about a cup of 20 Mule Team
Borax in a 5 gallon bucket and fill it about 2/3 to 3/4 full and poured it
over an area of about 3 square ft. Charlie started turning brown in a few
days. I was delighted and thot I found a 'Magic Potion!" So I ran right out
and did it again in an adjacent area. Ultimately, I lost all the strawberries
in both areas! Last fall, I was afraid I would have to replace the dirt in
both areas but this spring the evil Charlie is back along with a variety of
weeds. Sooooo.... I shall go back to using more conventional weed killers.
The moral of this story is --
Be Very Careful how strong you mix your solution and ladle it out sparingly.
I potted up several pkgs. of bareroot strawberries and they were doing very
well on my patio. But we've had so much rain they are dying (root rot) <
sniff, sniff & tears). And the weeds in all my flower beds are doing so well
I am exhausted just thinking about getting rid of them. :-(
But there is a lot of sun in the forecast for the next week and not a drop of
rain altho cold which I don't mind as long as we have clear, sunny skies for
a while!!
Best wishes in your war with Charlie and may you win all your battles with
him!! Barbara.
