Ranunculus repens. Don's plant is a form of R. repens. Again, here, I don't
know what mine is. The leaves are dark green and it is not terribly
vigorous. It is one of the plants that are passed around. Another mystery
to solve. It looks like some of the pix on Fastsearch images but not others.
Dozens of pix of the same plant and they are all different pix.

It creeps on lax long stems into parts of the garden over the summer but is
not particularly a pest. Everything you search for on R. repens calls it
invasive and weedy. The pic most like mine was Dutch and not described as a
pest. However, if someone warns you that a plant can become difficult to
contain, I would heed that and watch it in the garden.

For instance, I think wild lily of the valley, Maianthemum canadense, is a
great little shade plant. On the Alpine List a member wrote a scathing post
on this little plant calling it a noxious invasive weed. Every time I walk
by it, I think "what have you done wrong" and now I will have to keep an on
my "buttercup".
