RE: filipendula rubra Queen of the Prairie question

Here in Oregon, you just dig a piece of the clump/runners. It runs all over.

Subject: filipendula rubra Queen of the Prairie question

I am probably on the wrong darn list again... but :)

Anyone know how to propagate Queen of the Prairie? (filipendula rubra) I
would like to start some at the nature center and have a nice natural
stand of it in my yard. (for those who don't know, built here a few
years back and left the natural weed patch grow to see what developed...
one of the many treasures found here)....

Last fall collected the seeds (or what appeared to be seeds) and
sprinkled some out there. Another group we refrigerated, another left in
a jar and tried starting them in the greenhouse... none sprouted this
spring anywhere.

So... should I try to dig up a section and transplant that way? Anyone
know what I will find as far as a root system? Will I find some kind of
a tuber or just massive roots that go to the middle of the earth?

Thanks in advance,
Donna
