That said, my mother-in-law ripped hers out of the ground before the tree it was growing on was felled and brought me a snip. SHE stuck it in the ground near my fence and it's thriving. I have no idea what cultivar it is (it's magenta and is growing off the old vines), and I refuse to touch it or look at it very long for fear I'll kill it. . . . . I just avert my head as I walk past it - that seems to suit both of us just fine.
Go figure.
