Re: Bluebells and stuff

Well Gene, there are definately some trillium poking up, the bluebell noses are now about an inch and a half long and I think the Uvularia are toast. That was one of the spots I marked very carefully. I had 1 bloodroot come up and bloom(had planted about 9 of them).

There are more plants that seem to have succumbed than I've ever lost before. At least 3 Blue Angel Hostas, 2 Royal Standards, assorted ferns and astilbes appear to be either dead or not there. Seems really strange, 2 Astilbes side by side, one dead, one seems to have survived . No sign at all of my gingers. BUT!!!!!My lady slipper orchid is up about an inch. The toad lilies that were nearby are gone.

Because my beds were all new last fall, I had to mark everything cause there was not a hope in Hades I'd remember what I'd planted, let alone where. I needed to be sure I didn't mistake the plants for weeds until I get to know this garden better The squirrels seem to have moved a lot of my markers, there are green spots sprouting, but there are a lot of no shows. I know I moved into zone 5 from zone 6, but I guess this past winter was even harsher than we knew. There is a large nursery farm near here, and they lost all the yews that were outside.

However, we'll all be happy soon with things growin' and bloomin' Gardeners are all optomists...we need to be!

Can I uncross my fingers yet?????? How goes the Uvularia and Trilliums?
Masked bandit is now being located to a new home. Forced his way into
the root cellar once too often.
