Coffee as watering water.

I imagine most of us are busy with our spring gardens and celebrating the arrival of summer.

But here's a rather odd question, which might seem right out of a Jerry Baker tip <shudder>.

While used coffee grounds are generally recognized as good for the compost pile, what about left over coffee?
I've heard anecdotal reports about it being OK to add to regular watering (obviously within limits), particularly when some additional acidification might be necessary.

Is there any possible benefit to this, other than plants which won't go to sleep?
