Re: Lamium thugs

Patty,
I've grown several varieties of Lamium maculatum, Spotted Deadnettle, for
almost 15 years in Zone 5. I've never once had a volunteer. They do creep
and take over their area quickly, though, and as they reach the edge and
climb over or under the rock edge, I just dig them out - very shallow
roots - and pot them up to share. I did eventually remove all of Chequers
because it was taller, more aggressive, and not as pretty as the others,
Beacons Silver, and White Nancy. For our MG nursery for resale, I just
ordered a new one called Purple Dragon which has large purple flowers.
