Rain?

Unable to do much gardening here either, because of the rain.  Can
anyone tell me if some years really do have more rainfall, worldwide? 
Or does getting more in one spot mean less rainfall elsewhere?  I tried
to go onto websites which might deal with average annual rainfall,
worldwide, to see if it differs greatly in different years, but I didn't
find an answer.  Just curiosity, since I am stuck inside.  Does anyone
know if such figures are available?
