I have grown angelonia in window boxes with full sun for 2 years and it is one
of my all-time favorites. I also wondered what it really was and assumed it was
a tender perennial being marketed here as an annual. It showed up this year as a
top plant pick in either Garden Gate or Organic Gardening. It lasts well as a
cut flower, and individual stalks bloom slowly over a long period. I cut the
stalks back and noticed no ill effects. I've heard that it grows larger in pots
than when it's in the ground. Last year I had both pink and purple varieties but
was happier with the purple as the blooms were more prolific.
