A list of invasive weeds was recently published on one of the lists to
which I subscribe, and now I don't recall whether it was pnw-natives or
pnwgardn. Buddleia davidii was one of those "invasive weeds" of which I'm
very fond. There was no mention whatsoever of a tree that has proven
extremely invasive in the Middle West: Amur Maple. That tree is a favorite
of landscape designers, and I wonder if that favoritism is coloring the
list of invasive and obnoxious, etc. If it's invasive in the Middle West,
it's certainly invasive in a milder climate. Margaret
