heirloom plants/heirloom garden

We do not have heirloom plants, as much as we have an heirloom garden.
It is the last one my dad gardened in before he died, and the first one I
really became a gardener in.
It is a small backyard (terraced uphill with massive rocks). He only
worked in the garden for one year before passing on, but many of the plants
are ones he brought here from the house I grew up in. I did give his roses
to an old neighbor.. but kept all the rhodies including my favorite
"George's Delight" which I decided was named after my dad.
We also inherited all of his tooks and some of his books, and I feel
especially close to him when I use them.
One day my husband summed it up very nicely.. we were in the back yard
weeding and planting.. and he said "George sees what we are doing, and he's
very happy."
