Didier,
Before you give up on these plants(E.)keep them moist not wet and watch
for growth from just beneath the soil line..In your climate they could
easily come back from the roots.. Check just below the soil line ,do the
'scratch'test:gently with your fingernail scratch a small spot if you
see healthy green tissue under the test area then they are indeed still
alive ..remove old dead tops,then just be patient they will regrow..Get
them in the ground in the proper location,then treat as a perennial or
if winter is mild enough perhaps the upper growth will remain through
the winter..
