Re: Myosotis/ Now Creeping Forget Me Not

Hello Barb,
Ompholodes seems to be a bit of a neglected garden plant. It is a native
(O. verna) and I have had it in my garden for some time now. Mine are
planted with Hellebore niger, Polygonatums; both the Variegated and
European multiflora. scampers inside the base of the Polygonatums and
around the hellebore. The variegated Solomon Seal emerges in a claret color
through the green, blue and white of the Creeping Forget Me Not.
I have a white version up on the hill with the Yellow Trillium all through
it, both beneath a deciduous azalea and surrounded by dwarf hosta and
Japanese Woodland Primula.
There are quite a few hybrids out there now and an occasional species from
other parts of the world to collect.
My favorite yellow-blue combination is the Mertensia with Uvularia
grandiflora. After the Mertensia or Virginia Bluebells go dormant the
foliage of the Merry Bells (Uvularia) remains until frost and is quite a
pleasing foliage plant.
