Dot,
One thing about brugmansias that you should be aware of as a caution is
that when I received my first brugmansias, I did a search on the Internet
to find out details about it's culture. I was surprised to see how many
hits were sites containing info on "legal" highs. It seems as if handling
the leaves gives one a mild "high" once the oils are absorbed into the skin
on vascular parts of the body.
Now, I'm not going into details by any means, but you may want to where
gloves if you're going to be handling your brugmansias (pruning, repotting,
etc.). I read Don's post about the fact that these are also considered
poisonous...so I wouldn't recommend any "experimentation" on anyone's part.
The fragrance and 12" blooms are enough for me to keep this as a treasured
plant.
