deadheading

Hi Donna,
You asked about which plants I deadheaded so
religiously. The following is a list: Coreopsis,
gailardia, stokesia, scabiosa, platycodon, adenaphora,
Lady Bells (campanula), columbine, monarda, shasta
daisy, dianthus deltoid, nepeta (six hills giant) and
foxgloves. Of this list, the only ones that did not
do so well over the winter are the coreopsis,
scabiosa, and the foxglove. (I had read that if you
deadhead foxgloves right after bloom, they often act
as perennials rather than biennials. This may be so
for some, but it was not so for me).
Last summer, someone on this list confessed that she
deadheaded her coreopsis with the weed-whacker!!I
thought that was the funniest thing I had ever heard.
