Re: brugmansia

Dot,
My name is Pam and I was fortunate to take a tour of Kemberly's garden
yesterday afternoon. Her brugs are truly gorgeous, and huge, making me
extremely jealous! LOL! Kemberly and I met online and discovered we live near
each other here in TX. I have two gardens, one in Houston (zone 9) and one
in Navasota (zone 8b). Just started my brugs last year, they are about 3 ft.
tall with blooms almost dragging the ground. They do die down in the winter
but return in the spring to grow even bigger. I think they are only rated to
zone 8 (in the ground), but if you have a suitable microclimate area they may
do okay for you with good protection. You might start some cuttings just to
be sure that you will have extras if the one in the ground doesn't make it.

Kemberly's garden is lovely, and not only is she a great gardener but a very
sharing one as well. Sent me home with 5 flats of cuttings which she
insisted on potting up for me before I left. We are fortunate to have her on
the list and I look forward to learning more of her gardening secrets!

Good luck with your brugs!

Pam
Zone 8b/9
