Re: Crambe advice needed

Hi Myrna its Connie over in Idaho..
I have a 6-7yr old C.cordifolia here which is appox.41/2'w x 3'h.It
currently has 7 flower stalks which somewhat resemble heavy duty
asparagus stalks, the flowers as they open will eventually end up
looking much like Gypsophilia. The stalks rise another foot at least
above the foliage.Foliage starts right at ground level,so you end up
with a lovely half circle sitting directly on the ground. I do not
pamper mine so the leaves while plentiful are not so huge in
diameter. Our climates are very similiar as you know so I think its safe
to say that they should perform very well for you..Mine being very
tolerant of all the conditions we have heat, cold, late frosts, dry etc.I
would classify this as one tough plant.

As to mixing the lilies over time they would probably over grow them if
planted too close(C.Cord.puts on pups at the base as well, forming
colonies over time.)I have transplanted, removed, several of these over
time to help keep it in bounds to its given area.I have roses to the
background of this one and theres been no conflict of territory there.
But I'm sure there are many combinations that would work well.Just keep
in mind that it is a bold and big specimen.
Hope this helped you out some.
Connie
