RE: Garden lugs/or thugs? -- support your local plant

Oh Laurie, too funny. You obviously saw 'Unsinkable Molly Brown' (Belly up
to the bar, boys!).

Anyway: I solve this problem with catMINT by putting those 2' tall plastic
coated wire fences around newly emerging plants. The green variety. The
fences disappear soon, in the foliage, and the cats can only nip at the
outer edges and can't roll in/lay on/demolish the plant itself. I have 3
cats that live with me, and lots of neighborhood cats and this works great.

This fencing comes in about 10' rolls for about $10 and I cut each into 3-4
pieces each, depending on what plant I'm supporting. I also use them for
oriental poppies, mums, centaurea, lavenders, etc. In my climate, they stay
outside all year. Many are nearly 10 years old and in fine shape.

For taller things like shasta daisies, valerian officinalis I'll use small
or large tomato cages. Can't even see them in no time...

For mine is a little old fashioned garden where the flowers come
together to praise the Lord and teach all who look upon them to do
likewise.

I AM in shape. ROUND is a shape!
