i-net shopping/local growers

have enjoyed this thread about buying locally but since the Internet, my
idea of 'local' sure has spread.
I have gotten addicted to Amazon auctions..bid on quite a few things last
week and they are starting to roll in the past few days.
The nice thing is that a couple of the growers *are* within a couple
hundred miles of me and I am making a point of stopping at one nursery in
WA. state because of these purchases.
OTOH, you never know what you are going to get either, but there *is* a
feedback for this auction.
I won a bid on a dozen iris rhizomes (and ordered 5 dz...the wedding next
year ya know). I *got* a bag of chopped up barely there rhizomes that I
doubt will produce any iris.
Went ahead and planted them in the new rose garden and in a we shall see
mode.
I also won a bid on 10 Chinese wisteria (In my mind, these are 10 years
old and growing all over the outside seating area that isn't built yet)
The grower apologized, said they are small and is sending me 20 of
them..I will be giving wisteria for "Solstice" presents this year <g>
Sadly, many of my local growers are only available thru the plant sales
and farmers markets but I check them out all the time
