Once there was a teenage son that mowed the lawn and accidentally mowed
part ofthe ivy border down too. So he mowed all the ivy border to make
it look even. That ivy did not come back since it was cut in November.
You might try cutting all the leaves and stems back to the ground for
the winter and hope for enough cold weather to kill the plants. It
worked for me.
