Markers

I always have that problem too--seeing something that needs moving,
divided, etc and then forgetting which and where. I bought some of the
construction flags, cut them in half, to mark the plants that need
attention. Red is a good color but too obvious so that is why I cut the
metal stakes in half. You can mark the names on the colored flagging
too. Helps with daffodils that one knows but forgets where they are
until they are blooming. Can't forget them later though. I also used
them to mark the Jack in the pulpits seeds. The plant is gone by the
time the seeds are ready and then I can't find them but with the flags I
know the exact location.
