flower identification

If I told you that I had a neon golden yellow daisy type flower blooming
now, in its peak, that didn't start to bloom even until October, had narrow
linear leaves, alternate, about 3-4 feet tall, what would you say it was?  I
bought it, planted it, and promptly forgot it!
