Hi Chris,
 the cold frame is for protecting the plants from harsh winters. You should
cover it with plexiglass or something clear. You do want light to get in.
Don't put in it in the direct though. If you did you would have to open and
close it during the day. You could of course get an automatic frame opener,
if you wanted to put more money into it. I have 2 frames, 3X8 and 3X3. I keep
if cracked day and night until the temp. get into the 20 at night and stays
in the 30s during the day. It's not in full sun. You will have to water at
times, depending on what you have in your frame.
