Please allow me to relieve myself of my sorrow at the fate of my dahlias
this past season; first let me say that I saved the tubers over the winter,
and put them in pots at the same time that I start growing seeds under
lights, about March 1; they came up very nicely and, after the weather
permitted, I put them in the ground, probably early June;
they grew well but didn't start putting out flowers until August, and were
just about to bloom profusely when we had a hard frost on October l; and
that's all for this year;
next spring I'm going to put them out earlier, and cover them at night.
